BIN

A BIN is a Bank Identification Number or Issuer Identification Number, which is the first six digits of a card number. These digits can be used to identify the Type of Card: each Card Type has a designated range of BINs.

BIN mapping allows you to make sure certain Card Types are directed to certain MIDs. A typical example of BIN mapping would be to map all AMEX Cards to the MID you have that will process AMEX.

[binlist.net is a site to test a single card number's BIN] (https://binlist.net/)
